Chase admits to Stacy that about an hour after the patient left, he thought that he should have asked if the patient had blood in her stool and called her. The patient is in the emergency room two hours later with a perforated ulcer. She needs emergency surgery, but stomach contents had leaked into her abdominal cavity, causing peritonitis which led to sepsis and damage to her liver and kidneys. The scene is now six months later, and the diagnostic team is working with Stacy Warner to prepare for a hearing before a peer review disciplinary hearing. Olivia Wilde's character Dr. Hadley — widely known as "Thirteen"– joined House's team in Season 4. A wild card (or perhaps "Wilde" card), Thirteen became a fan-favorite, as her development would continuously unfold with unsuspecting quirks and personality traits. Genetically, her traits would eventually yield her to test positive for Huntington's Chorea, which would become a major subplot for her character in further seasons. However, later on in the season, during the episode Insensitive, Cameron implied she would be interested in a "friends with benefits" arrangement which, against Chase's weakening protests, quickly evolved into having sex in dangerous places. These places included a patient's bedroom and the sleep center.
He tries celibacy for about a month before returning to sleeping with nurses. This does enable him to stand up to House and tell him when Chase thinks he is wrong. Everyone expects Chase to be upset about Cameron's departure, but he's remarkably sanguine about it.
